Our Commitment to You, Laney Bug

Sunday was Parent/Child Commitment day at church. While it was the usual hustle and bustle getting everyone dressed and ready, it was also a special time for the four of us as we presented our baby girl at church before friends and family.

Sweet Laney,

As parents, we promise to bring up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, to provide a Christian home, to teach you the Bible by precept and example, and to pray for the day when you will trust Jesus as your Savior and come into the fellowship and service of the church.

It is an honor and privilege to call you our daughter, and we ask others to hold us accountable for these things we promise to you. We know we will not be perfect examples, but we will teach you about the One who is. You were specially chosen just for us, and we love you so much. We commit these truths to you, as we did for Carter, and look forward to watching you continue to grow into beautiful young lady - inside and out.

Thank you to our family for joining us Sunday. We had a nice lunch afterwards. Carter discovered the water fountain and the birds. I don't think lunch at Cafe Express will ever be the same.

After a fun-filled day, everyone was wiped out. Notice the book is still open!

A Little Boy and a Little Dog - Bathtime

Scooter finally got his stitches out from his surgery. (I'm still a little in denial about the whole thing. He had some tumors removed that were malignant, but the vet was confident that he removed all the "bad" stuff. I still refuse to say the 'c' word). Anyway... he was in big-time need of a bath. A legit one. Not one from Buddy.

Squirting Scooter with the hose while he couldn't get away was a whole new level of fun for Carter!! Not so much for Scooter.

Buddy is so sneaky. He tried to be incognito behind the limbs we still haven't thrown out. I know... it's hard to find him as he's so well hidden.

Needless to say, Scooter ran inside after I dried him off. Not a fan of baths...especially baths from a particular little boy.

Laney managed to stay dry somehow. I put Carter to work watering the flowers for me. Of course it stormed for several hours that night, but I digress. He soon discovered that it was a little easier to tear off the leaves of the plant and put them under the hose instead of moving the hose around. I still have some work to do in training my little gardener! By the way, Carter and Scooter are friends again.

Brave... or Maybe Stupid

Carter was sitting on the couch the other day while I held the baby, and I had the great/stupid idea to let him hold her. REALLY hold her. So I put him in the corner of the couch, and he held out his arms. The pictures of this aren't good at all, but their expressions are too funny. Try to see through the blurs (as that's when I was racing to put down the camera and break them up), and check out their faces - especially Laney's. I noticed a few times he tried to 'fish hook' her - he would wrap his fingers around her face and stick them in her mouth.

Finally, one with no tears.

Needless to say, this round of quality together time didn't last too long!

A Zooper Day with Grandma

Carter and Laney have the best grandmas and grandpas ever. No offense to anyone else's grandparents, but it's true. Today, Grandma (Joel's mom) took Carter to the zoo. Here are a few snipits of their day...

Just For Fun...

Just a few pictures for the fun of it. We had fun at GranJan and Papa's the other day. Playing with the water hose outside is the only thing that pulled Carter away from playing with the water in their bathtub. We are all amazed at how long that entertains him. Anyway, he soon became fascinated with the hose.

Daddy's Little Helper...

Joel was working on a new marketing idea, and he decided to put the Bee Bop to work. After a few "alterations," he had Carter ready to go.

It was all fun and games until...

The Hunter Strikes Again...

Well, kind of. We attended another egg hunt Saturday with our friends, the Halaskas. Hayden is a few months older than Carter, and Hailey is about 2 weeks older than Laney. Carter didn't seem as interested in the eggs this time, but he did have fun playing with Daddy, Hayden, and Chris. However, he is still not a fan of big holiday creatures dressed up in costumes. Santa was a no-go, and the Easter Bunny was no exception! We took a picture with the EB, and I think it's supposed to be emailed. I'll post it if so. Until then... here are some others from Saturday.

Milestones...

This week: check-ups for the kiddos.

My little girl has reached the 2 month mark and Carter was a tad past due for his 18 month, so off we went to the doctor.

I have to say I was worn out after this visit. The last few times we've been to the doctor, Carter has figured out how to open the doors and get out of whatever room we're in. Not bad when it's just the two of us, but adding a tired little girl to the mix is a different story (I have managed to only take them together - by myself - one other time). I had them both stripped down to their diapers, and Carter took off streaking down the hallway - several times! It was quite a sight. He is on-the-go 24/7.

Everyone is doing well and growing as they should. I'm not much for percentiles, as Carter's have always been the same. But, Laney's have sure changed! I think she was in the 10th or 15th percentile when she was born and is now in the 85 percentile. Made me giggle... She has really changed in the last 2 months (besides gaining 6 pounds!). She is very "busy" kicking and swinging her arms around. She loves to smile and giggle - as long as she has a full belly! I love to watch her smile and laugh at Carter, and he is becoming more and more interested in Laney. Of course, at times he prefers to steal her blanket and tear off her socks, but... oh well. It's funny to see her play with and on some of the same toys Carter did not so long ago. I was scared to death of having a little girl (still a bit nervous of the teenage years), but she is such a joy! I always look forward to our 'girl time' together.

The Mighty Hunter...

Saturday was Carter's first Easter egg hunt. MMOYC (neighborhood moms' group) sponsored the hunt at Godwin Park down the street. We practiced with Carter the night before at Grandma and Grandpa's so he would know what to do. Here are a few pictures of our little hunter.

No eggs for Sister this year, but she did get lots of ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz's.

She woke up when we got home and shared lots of smiles.

Best $9 ever spent...

I saw this at Target and thought it would be perfect for The Bop. He loves balls, bats, clubs - you name it. Anyway, he LOVES it and wants to carry it around all the time. Literally, all the time! Everything inflates except for the bat handle.

Laney made sure to keep a safe distance while Brother played.
