My only request for Mother's Day this year was to get a picture with my two little ones. I have TONS of pictures of the kids, the kids with Joel, the kids and the dogs, etc., etc... but I'm usually taking the pictures, so I don't have but a handful with them. I took my camera to church hoping to get a picture (of all 4 of us) in one of the pretty gardens with our nice clothes on, but I left the camera in the car. After looking through all of the attempts, here is my favorite:

Why? Because it makes me laugh. This picture most accurately depicts a typical day. THIS (as I point to me) mother's day. Carter has taken a swipe at my hair and then grabbed for Laney's bow. Laney is SO tired and should have been asleep an hour ago. Carter just got up from a nap that probably ended a little too soon. I have been out of my nice clothes for hours, Carter is still in his, and Laney had just dirtied hers! No one able to sit still. Yet I round us all up because this is something we HAVE to do. You know... a day with kids.
But... I wouldn't trade it for the world.
The fussing, whining, dirty diapers, bumps and bruises, spilled milk, sticky floors are really a teeny-tiny price to pay for the laughs, butterfly/Eskimo/fish kisses, hugs, games, smiles and coos, snuggle time, books to read and play dates (just to name a few), that I am PRIVILEGED to receive in return.
I love you 'bunches like bananas,' my little munchkins!
This was a double Mother's Day as we had a yummy lunch with my mom and Adrian. (Joel's mom was out of town, but we're celebrating with them upon their return). Joel and I are very blessed to have our moms so close by. They have helped us a TON with the kids and have given us a break when needed. I literally don't know how we would have made it this far without their help.
I do have to thank Joel for a wonderful meal, sweet card, and my MD gift this year. He has been a huge, HUGE help to me, and I know how much the kids enjoy getting to spend time with their daddy. It is a gift in itself to see them together.
***And last but not least, though these past 2 MDs have been very special, I can ASSURE you that we will not keep up the ' # of Mother's Days celebrated = the number of children we have' deal. :)

We did get a little better shot of the 3 of us (Joel was taking the picture). If you look closely though, the bow is still out of whack, 'Fake Face Carter' is present, I have a death grip on them both so they don't wiggle away, and somewhere... somehow... Carter is probably pinching Laney's backside. Just because he can.
