The kids had "Outdoor Day" at school on May 2. They were outside literally the entire day. We were told to dress the kids in 'very old play clothes' as they were guaranteed to get wet and dirty. There was music playing as we arrived, and everyone just met on the playground. Unfortunately, it was one of the only days in the last several months when we have had downright chilly weather with cloudy skies. Some of the kids were in sweats, some were in swimsuits! The school decided not to have all the events out due to the weather. The water slide and a few other things were removed.
Anyway, it was all things water! And a huge hit, I might add. There are lots of pictures (in no particular order, sorry), so I'll just describe as they come up. Easier to see a picture and then read the description.
There was a 'house' that the kids got to paint with rollers and brushes and anything else you could imagine.
The Three Musketeers
This was the 'car wash.' There was a misting hose attached to the top so that all the bikes and kids got sprayed when they went through. Kids LOVED this! They scrubbed their bikes with soap and water before and then rinsed off in the car wash. Sometimes, it was more fun to just run through it!
The 'water color mural.' Lots of spray bottles with different colors that the kids sprayed on the sheet. This is an after picture. You'll see the before soon!
My monkey on the monkey bars
Carter and Gen. Carter hearts Gen. We ALL heart Gen! Laney and Carter will fight over who gets to hold her hand walking to the car!
The school has a super big sand pit with a big playhouse on one side. They set up washing stations for baby dolls and anything else that could be wiped down. It was a little messy at the end of the day, but those dolls were squeaky clean! In the background is Laney's Duckling Class BFF - Alannah. She always, always talks about Alannah.
There was a long strip of bubble wrap on the ground. The kids could ride bikes down the hill and listen to it pop. Sometimes they would just jump on it or pop bubbles with anything they could find. Really cute idea. made me want to go buy something and have it shipped just for the wrap!
Laney getting her butterfly tattoo.
Carter with his snake tattoo and Gen with her kitty-cat tattoo.
Carter getting his tattoo - told you they weren't in order. By the end of the day, it looked like he had been punched. It was just a big swirl of black, green, brown, and yellow.
Laney at the car wash.
Alyssa, Carter, and Evin washing bikes.
Carter and Brady at one of the water tables.
Carter, Brady, and Evin fishing!
Another water table. The kids would play stand there forever and scoop little fish up with the giant pelican scooper.
The mural - before!
Laney and her friends (Lauren and Hunter) at the shaving cream table
One of the bubble stations with the biggest wands I have ever seen. (Megan, Lauren, Naomi, Laney, and Carter - a mix of both classes)
Hunter, Laney, and Isaac with their treats.
The event ended with popsicles for everyone! The weather had actually improved over the course of the morning, so nobody froze eating their treat.

The ladybugs!
The ladybugs!
We met up with Gen and Sarah for lunch, and I actually got sunburned sitting outside. Gotta' love Texas weather!
This was a super day, and the kids just ate it up. It was fun for me to get to see them play with their little friends and just kind of be a 'fly on the wall' for a day. I also enjoyed getting to participate in something for BOTH of their classes as they were out there at the same time. A little bonus for me as other Duckling parents didn't get to volunteer due to the age group (technically I was volunteering for the Ladybug class). School figured the kids would be super clingy if parents came for the little ones. Not my big girl. I couldn't find her half of the time, but she was always with a crowd! She loves playing with Carter's friends too. Funny to hear them all talk to each other! They knew most everyone on the playground and what class they were in!
